Barclays Glasgow Campus

Animated Film & Augmented Reality Activation

Soluis have been working closely with Drum Property Group, the developer behind the Buchanan Wharf development in Glasgow.

When complete, the Clydeside site will provide more than a million square feet of prime Grade A office space, residential accommodation and a mix of local amenities and landscaped public spaces.

It was important that the visual quality of the content was of the highest order given the high profile nature of this development and the very large audience it would reach through the national media.

Soluis developed a set of marketing images and an animated film, which included information on the history of this site, transport connections and the quality of the development itself with high quality public realm spaces that are being provided within it.

Visual quality was the key driver for the animation so the decision was made to use 3Ds Max and V-Ray to render the animation at Full HD 1080P for broadcast quality.

The on-site AR app was chosen to demonstrate that this project is right at the cutting edge of new technology and it highlighted very effectively the huge change that this derelict area of the city is about to undergo.

The on-site AR app used a version of the 3D model developed in Unity to digitally overlay the building onto the land it will stand on in the future, allowing users to preview the scale and design attributes of the location with a true sense of scale and visual accuracy. The AR app required the optimisation of the model in Unity to ensure it presented the scheme accurately on the site and ran efficiently on mobile devices.

Both Drum Property Group and Barclays were absolutely delighted with the outcome and are using the film widely to promote the project both within their business and for broader publicity purposes.

The on-site AR app was used at the official Press Launch with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and Barclays COO Paul Compton shown using the app in the national press and television reports.

The film and AR app has enabled Barclays and associated project stakeholders, including Glasgow City Council, to make a very positive impact with the news about this transformational development for the city, the single biggest inward investment to have ever come to Scotland.
